Castor Oil
Castor oil, also known as ricinus communis, is a nutrient-rich vegetable oil that comes from castor beans. In ancient Egypt, castor oil was burned as fuel in lamps, used as a natural remedy to treat ailments like eye irritation. Castor oil is commonly used as an additive in foods, medications and skin care.
Why I love Castor Oil and use it in our Hair oil:
- Castor oil creates a moist environment that promotes healing and stimulates tissue growth
- Increases the glossiness and shine to your hair, increases hair shaft flexibility by coating the hair shaft, and providing antimicrobial properties.
- The intensive moisturising properties of Castor Oil is great for dry or damaged hair. It acts as a lubricant, coating and conditioning strands to improve smoothness and shine.
- It also reduces dryness and cornification, the build up of dead skin cells.
- Castor oil may benefit those who experience dandruff or psoriasis, a common scalp condition characterized by dry, flaky skin on the head.
-
It works as an emollient, smoothing flaky skin and making it feel softer. It can also provide a barrier on the hair and protect against moisture loss.
